Accessibility
How we try to make this website and this practice usable for everyone, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Our commitment
Reaching out for therapy is hard enough. A website or a booking process should not make it harder.
Rahao Therapy is committed to providing services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code. That commitment applies to this website and to the care itself.
What we have done on this site
The site is built as plain, semantic HTML, which means it works with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and browser tools that change how a page looks. Specifically:
- Every image carries a text description, so nothing is lost if images do not load or are read aloud.
- The whole site can be used with a keyboard alone. A skip to content link is the first thing you reach on every page, and focus is visible as you move through.
- Every text colour was measured against the backgrounds it sits on, and all of them meet the WCAG AA contrast threshold. The softer accent colour falls below it, so it is used only for decoration and never for text.
- Text resizes and reflows when you zoom in or use larger type, down to a narrow phone screen.
- Movement on the homepage is switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Pages are written in plain language, with headings that let you skim rather than read everything.
The standard we aim for
We work toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the benchmark the AODA uses for websites. We aim for it because it is the right standard, not because the practice is large enough to be legally required to meet it.
We have not had the site independently audited, so we describe this as what we are working toward rather than a claim of full conformance.
What we know is not perfect yet
Being honest about this is more useful than claiming the site is flawless:
- On a few pages the heading levels skip a step, which can make the structure read oddly in a screen reader. We are correcting these.
- The video on the homepage and the online booking system are provided by other companies. We chose tools that take accessibility seriously, but we do not control them, and their behaviour may differ from the rest of the site.
- Articles published before this statement are being reviewed for structure and link wording.
Accessibility in sessions
Sessions are virtual, which removes some barriers and introduces others. Please tell us what you need, as early or as late as you like. Things we can usually arrange include:
- Live captions during video sessions, or sessions by phone instead of video.
- Communicating by email or text rather than by phone, where that works better for you.
- A support person joining a session, with your consent.
- Paperwork and intake forms in a larger print or an alternative format.
- Working in English, Hindi, or Punjabi, and moving between them in a session if that is how the words come.
- Adjusting the pace or length of a session where that helps.
You do not need a diagnosis, documentation, or an explanation to ask for any of this.
Accessible formats
If you would like anything on this site in another format, including large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone, ask and we will provide it at no extra cost and as quickly as we reasonably can.
If something gets in your way
If any part of this site or this practice is difficult to use, we want to know. You will not be asked to justify the request, and telling us does not affect your care in any way.
Email admin@rahaotherapy.com or call (289) 273-0955. Describe what happened in whatever way is easiest. We aim to respond within two business days, and we will tell you what we can fix and when.
Feedback can be given by email, by phone, or in person during a session, whichever you prefer.
Service animals and support persons
Service animals and support people are welcome. Because sessions are virtual, this mostly matters for who is with you in your own space, and that is entirely your decision. Where a support person joins a session, we will ask for your consent and talk through confidentiality with you both.
Notice of disruption
If a service you rely on is unavailable, for example the booking system or the video platform, we will say so and offer another way to reach us.
Review
This statement is reviewed when the site changes in a significant way, and at least once a year. The date at the top shows when it was last looked at.
